Celebrating Our Work Together

As I enter my ninth year with Blue Ridge Humane Society next month—three as Volunteer and Outreach Director and six as Executive Director—I am overwhelmed with gratitude for everything we have accomplished together.

This organization has been a part of my life for nearly a decade. Throughout that time, I have witnessed incredible growth, resilience, and the unwavering dedication of our team, volunteers, and supporters. We have saved thousands of lives, reunited lost pets with their families, expanded programs to keep pets in homes, and provided essential veterinary care to those who need it most. Every adoption, every medical treatment, and every bag of pet food given to a pet owner is a direct result of this community’s compassion and generosity.

The past nine years have not been without challenges. We navigated the uncertainty of COVID-19, ensuring animals still received care when the world shut down. We stepped up after Hurricane Helene, providing urgent support for displaced pets and their families. And through it all, our community stood beside us, proving time and again that when we work together, we can overcome anything.

Beyond adoptions, our reach extends deep into the community. Each year, our pet food giveaways provide a lifeline to thousands of families, ensuring no pet goes hungry. Our low-cost vaccine clinics offer critical preventive care, keeping pets healthy and safe. And our pet loss support group reminds grieving families that they are not alone.

As we move forward, I know our work is far from over. Salem, Peter, and Zuko—pets still waiting in our Adoption Center—remind us that every day brings a new opportunity to change a life. The need remains, but so does our commitment to each other. With your continued support, we will keep opening doors, creating second chances, and ensuring every pet in our community knows love and care.

I cannot thank you enough for being part of this journey. Your kindness, generosity, and belief in our mission make everything we do possible. Here’s to looking forward to more years of building a better community for animals together.

With My Deepest Gratitude,

Angela Prodrick, Executive Director
