Photo Contest Winners Announced
The 2022 “You Can’t But Love But You Can Adopt It” Photo Contest delivered a wonderful selection of photos and stories celebrating a rescue pets second chance at love and a home.
Our panel of judges were tasked with choosing their favorites from the 40 entries. Each judge expressed how difficult it was to pick, and in our minds, every pet in a loving home is a winner!

Riley: Riley is an adventure seeking, people loving dog who lives life to the fullest! After being found on the street with his brother and sister as a little pup, he was taken in and adopted by Michelle. Now Riley and Michelle enjoy getting outside and enjoying all Western North Carolina has to offer! When he’s not out on the trails or rafting on the lake, Riley spends his time as a gym dog at Asheville Personal Training, greeting members and providing post workout cuddles!
Oak: Oak was adopted from BRHS when he was just a puppy. My friend and I fought tooth and nail to adopt him before anyone else could snatch him up. He was just the happiest dog and loved everyone and everything. Oak loved the water and could always find some on every walk.
Thorne: Thorne is our beautiful protector. We adopted her in 2014 from the Henderson County Animal Shelter and we are thankful for her courageous spirit each and every day.
