You Can’t Buy Love But You Can Rescue It Contest Winners

We asked for you rescue stories and boy did you deliver! Thank you to all those you entered our “You Can’t Buy Love But You Can Rescue It” Photo Contest! We are overwhelmed with the amount of loving stories and heartfelt pictures we received from you all. Close to 70 photos were submitted raising over $1,000 for our shelter animals medical expenses. Thank you to all who entered as well as Wag! A Unique Pet Boutique for donating prizes, our volunteer judges, and Dry Falls Brewing Company for hosting our show!

Congratulations to the winning photos!

First Place: Kim Wishcamper with Enzo

Enzo came into my life as “Max,” a twice-surrendered mutt of mysterious origin. When we met at a South Carolina shelter, I was living in a pet-free rental with three months left on my lease. Well, the heart wants what the heart wants. He came home with me that week, and together we moved into my vintage 1960 Airstream trailer, spending the next few months alternately parking next to my (expensive but now-useless) rental house, and adventuring as far north as the coast of Maine.

Second Place: Leonard Bolton with Eddie

We adopted Eddie when he was just a pupster; He is our surrogate son and travels with us everywhere we are able to take him. He’s been skiing in Vermont and even flew with us one Christmas to visit relatives in Alaska. Here he is in Williamsburg, Va. where he enjoys sniffing out American history. (Who rescued whom?).

Third Place: Jim Marshall with Ginny

Ginny was adopted from the Henderson County Animal Shelter. She was 7 when we adopted her and has been a joy ever since. When my son first went to meet her at the shelter, Ginny immediately jumped in his lap and rolled over as if to say “ pick me”! Ginny never met a stranger. She loves anything edible and anywhere soft to rest. My daughter also created Ginny an Instagram page for family and friends to enjoy.
