August Community Support
Blue Ridge Humane Society has two more offerings this month to help local pet owners care for their animals. These events aim to reduce financial barriers to pet care by providing free food, pet supplies and low-cost preventative services. Both are open to the public and operate on a first-come, first-served basis, so early arrival is encouraged. Upcoming support includes:
Free Pet Food Giveaway
When: Saturday, August 23, 2025, 10:00 AM–12:00 PM
Where: Boys & Girls Club of Henderson County, 1304 Ashe Street, Hendersonville, NC
Pet owners can pick up free pet food and other supplies through a drive-through, car-side distribution. Staff will gather basic information (number/type of pet) and place supplies directly in car trunks. Supplies are limited and distributed while they last.
Low-Cost Vaccine Clinic
When: Saturday, August 30, 2025, 10:00 AM–1:00 PM
Where: Blue Ridge Humane Society Warehouse, 802 S. Grove Street, Hendersonville, NC
Services include rabies, distemper, FVRCP, Bordetella, microchipping, ID tags, flea/tick prevention, and leptospirosis. Most services cost $10, with leptospirosis at $15. Dogs must be on a leash, and cats in carriers. Pre-registration is encouraged to speed up check-in but does not guarantee services. Must bring proof of rabies vaccination history.
Both events are part of our ongoing commitment to keeping pets healthy and in loving homes. If you are not in need of these services, please share the message so that more folks in our community can access what is available to them.
