From Uncertainty to Unconditional Love: Muffin’s Journey Home

Not every rescue story follows a straight path. Sometimes we think things will be straightforward, only to discover that there are more questions than answers. When this is the case, we rely on compassion, patience, and our community to find our way forward.
When Muffin first arrived in our care, she immediately charmed everyone with her spunky personality and wonderfully squishy face. But during what was supposed to be a routine spay surgery, Muffin went into respiratory distress and crashed. Although the veterinary team was able to revive her, the procedure had to be stopped, and it revealed something even more concerning.
During the procedure, veterinarians discovered multiple masses along her mammary chain. Follow up diagnostics also showed a mass on her spleen and disc compression in her spine. Muffin’s future was suddenly uncertain, and her care became more complex than we had anticipated.
In March, we asked for help covering Muffin’s medical bills, and the community showed up in a BIG way – raising $3,303 to help her get the care she needed! In early April, Muffin underwent a splenectomy and completed her spay surgery. After careful monitoring and biopsy testing, we received the best possible news – her masses were benign!
Today, Muffin is in a loving home, healing beautifully, and soaking up all the love and attention from her new family.

“She’s been home for almost a week now and is healing up nicely. She is by far one of the sweetest dogs I have ever had. As long as she is with her humans, she is content. She always wants to be in somebody’s lap and if we are outside, she is following along.

She is definitely a fan of apples. She has eaten most of the ones that have been brought into the house in the last couple weeks. No matter where we put them or try to hide them, she always seems to find them and devour them.
She definitely prefers the beds, not to be made. As soon as they’re made, she will jump up there and unmake it for you. She goes on as many car rides as we will allow and her happy dance when we come home from work or school can only make you smile and feel loved.”
Muffin’s story serves as a powerful reminder of what can happen when a community comes together. Because of your support, she was given the time, medical care, and compassion she needed – not just to survive, but to truly thrive.
